2026 Call for Nominations to NEA-New Mexico Elective Office

Call for nominations are open until 5:00 p.m. MST, Friday, October 10, 2025.

The NEA-New Mexico Elections Committee calls for nominations for offices to be elected in the 2026 All-Member Election. All nominations due by close of business on Friday, October 10, 2025, except for nominations for NEA Representative Assembly Delegates. Nominations for State NEA Representative Delegates, Cluster NEA Representative Delegates, Aspiring educator NEA Representative Delegates, and Retired NEA Representative Delegates must be received no later than the close of such nominations at the Annual Delegate Council.

Nominations are open for the following offices:

  1. Northwest Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors-serving a three-year term beginning July 15, 2026. (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Northwest Region are eligible)
  2. Central Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, filling an unexpired term beginning February 23, 2026, ending July 14, 2027. (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Central Region are eligible)
  3. Northeast/North Central Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors-serving a three-year term beginning July 15, 2026. (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Northeast/North Central Region are eligible)
  4. Southwest Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors- Election District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces, filling an unexpired term beginning February 23, 2026, ending July 14, 2027. (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Election District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA- Las Cruces is eligible)
  5. Southwest Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors-Election District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces, serving a three-year term beginning July 15, 2026. (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Election District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces is eligible)
  6. Southwest Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee-Election District representing all locals except Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces, filling an unexpired term beginning February 23, 2026, ending July 14, 2027 (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Election District representing locals outside Las Cruces are eligible
  7. Southwest Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee-Election District representing all locals except Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces, three-year term beginning July 15, 2026 (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Election District representing locals outside Las Cruces are eligible)
  8. Southwest Region Member of Education Political Action Committee, Election District representing Las Cruces-CSEC and NEA-Las Cruces, three-year term beginning July 15, 2026 (all active nonsupervisory members of a local in the Election District representing NEA-Las Cruces and Las Cruces-CSEC are eligible)
  9. Southeast Region Member of Education Political Action Committee, Election District representing District 1—Lovington, Portales, Clovis, ENMU Portales, Carlsbad, Eunice, Hobbs, Jal, Loving, Dora, Tatum, Texico, three-year term beginning July 15, 2026.
  10. Southeast Region Member of Education Political Action Committee, Election District representing District 2—Elida, Floyd, Ft. Sumner, Hondo, ENMU Roswell, NMMI, Melrose, Roswell, Ruidoso, Artesia, Dexter, Lake Arthur, Hagerman, three-year term beginning July 15, 2026
  11. State Delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly (all active members are eligible)
  12. State Category Two Delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly (all category-two members-NEA members who are active supervisors, NEA Life members, NEA retired-staff Life members-are eligible)
  13. Cluster Delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly (all active nonsupervisory members in locals of 75 or fewer members are eligible)
  14. Student Delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly (only student members eligible to nominate and be nominated) *
  15. Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, representing Retired Members, one-year term beginning July 15, 2026 (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) Two positions to be elected.
  16. Retired Delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly, (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) *

* The actual number of retired delegates and cluster delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on January 15, 2026. Student delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on March 21, 2026.

Candidates may nominate themselves by completing the online nomination form. Any member of an appropriate membership category may nominate candidates as well. Candidates for retired member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors and retired delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by retired members; candidates for student delegate to the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by student members.

Nominations for State NEA Representative Delegates, Cluster NEA Representative Delegates, Aspiring educator NEA Representative Delegates, and Retired NEA Representative Delegates must be received no later than the close of such nominations at the Annual Delegate Council.

Nominations are to be completed using the NEA-NM electronic nomination form available on the NEA-NM website, www.neanm.org, submitted to the President of NEA-New Mexico by 5:00 PM on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Elections Committee has ruled that a nomination by a member other than the nominee will not be considered a valid nomination unless the nominee has given express prior permission for the nomination. The committee has also ruled that only nominations made on official nomination forms will be considered valid. Ballot position for the 2026 NEA Representative Assembly will be in the order in which the nominations are received. All other ballot positions will be determined by lot in accordance with the standing rules.

Candidate Statements

RA Delegate nominees may submit a statement of up to 25 words to be published with RA Delegate ballots and on the NEA-NM website.

Other candidates nominated for NEA-NM office may have a statement on the website of 50 words or less, beginning December 6, 2025. Statements are due by Friday, October 31, 2025.

The deadline for NEA-NM receipt of all candidate statements is Friday, October 31, 2025.
