Advocating for Change

Advocating for Change

Creating Great Public Schools starts with you.
We need to address our growing teacher shortage in a multi-faceted and strategic way. This includes affordable healthcare and a living wage for all educators and support staff along with more funding for schools so our students can thrive. Here’s how you can help.
Educators and Education Support Professionals have been expected to treat their profession like a passion for far too long. Every person who works in a public school deserves a safe workplace, respect, and fair salary and benefits. This is how we protect you and your workplace.

Justice for Students

NEA EdJustice engages and mobilizes activists in the fight for racial, social and economic justice in public education. Readers will find timely coverage of social justice issues in education and ways they can advocate for our students, our schools, and our communities.

Educators Speak Out!

NEA-NM was at the forefront of the movement to improve educator's working conditions and address the staffing crisis that culminated in the 2022 Rally at the Roundhouse for Our Public Schools.

Support Student Success

If we want to give all of our students the leadership they deserve, we need to elect champions who will fight for our neighborhood public schools.

So, what is EMAC?

The Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee, otherwise known as EMAC, is a program committee that makes recommendations to the governing bodies on matters of concern to the constituencies that they represent.

It is only through our union that we can harness our collective influence and power to protect public education and improve the lives of our fellow educators and the students we serve.
