NEA-NM 2024 Call for Nominations

Deadline for receipt of statements must be received by the NEA-NM President by 5 PM, October 20, 2023.

Nomination Form

The NEA-New Mexico Elections Committee calls for nominations for offices to be elected in the 2024 All-Member Election as listed below.

  • NEA Director
  • NEA Alternate Director
  • NEA-NM Region Board of Directors
  • NEA-NM EdPAC
  • Retired NEA-NM members to the NEA-NM Board and EdPAC  
  • State Delegate, Cluster Delegate, or Student Delegates to NEA Representative Assembly
  • Member of the NEA-NM Board of Directors representing Retired members
  • Member of the NEA-NM EdPAC representing Retired members
  • Retired NEA-NM Delegate

Nominations for the actual number of retired delegates and cluster delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on January 15, 2024. Student delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on March 15, 2024.

Nominations open on August 18, 2023, for the following offices: 
 

State Ballot-All Members Voting 

  1. NEA Director for New Mexico and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, three-year term commencing September 1, 2024 (all active members eligible) 

  1. NEA Alternate Director for New Mexico and delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly, three-year term commencing September 1, 2024 (all active members eligible) 

  1. State Delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly (all active members are eligible) 

  1. State Category Two Delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly (all category two members-NEA members who are active supervisors, NEA Life members, NEA retired-staff Life members-are eligible)

Central Region Ballot-All Members in Central Region Voting 

  1. Central Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024.  (all active members of a local in Central Region are eligible)  

  1. Central Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024.  (all active members of a local in Central Region are eligible)

Northwest Region Ballot-All Members in NW Region Voting 

  1. Northwest Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024.  (all active members of a local in Northwest Region are eligible)

Northeast/North Central Region Ballot – All NE/NC Region Members Voting 

  1. Northeast/North Central Region Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024. (all active members of a local in Northeast/North Central Region are eligible) 

  1. Northeast/North Central Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024.  (all active members of a local in Northeast/North Central Region are eligible.) 

  1. Northeast/North Central Region Member of the Education Political Action Committee, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024.  (all active members of a local in Northeast/North Central Region are eligible.)

Cluster Ballot-All Members in Selected Locals Voting 

  1. Cluster Delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly (all active nonsupervisory members in locals of 75 or fewer members are eligible) *

Retired Ballot-All Retired Members Voting 

  1. Member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors, representing Retired Members, one-year term beginning July 15, 2024 (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) Two positions to be elected. 

  1. Member of the NEA-NM Education Political Action Committee, representing Retired Members, three-year term beginning July 15, 2024 (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) Two positions to be elected. 

  1. Retired Delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly, (only retired members eligible to nominate and be nominated) * 

* The actual number of retired delegates and cluster delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on January 15, 2024. Student delegates to be elected will be determined by the membership figures in each category as they exist on March 21, 2024.

Candidates may nominate themselves by completing the online nomination form.  Any member of an appropriate membership category may nominate candidates as well.  Candidates for retired member of the NEA-New Mexico Board of Directors and retired delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by retired members; candidates for student delegate to the 2024 NEA Representative Assembly must be nominated by student members.

The Elections Committee has ruled that a nomination by a member other than the nominee will not be considered a valid nomination unless the nominee has given express prior permission for the nomination.  The committee has also ruled that only nominations made on the official online nomination form will be considered valid.  Ballot position for 2024 NEA Representative Assembly will be in the order in which the nominations are received.  All other ballot positions will be determined by lot in accordance with the standing rules. 

 

Candidate Statements 

RA Delegate nominees may submit a statement of up to 25 words to be published with RA Delegate ballots and on the NEA-NM website.

Other candidates nominated for NEA-NM office may have a statement on the website of 50 words or less, beginning December 16, 2023. Statements are due by October 28, 2023.

The deadline for NEA-NM receipt of all candidate statements is October 28, 2023.
